Membership Requirements

Membership in Troop 411 is open to boys of all faiths and ethnicities from ages 11 to 18.  We can accept 10-year-old boys if they have earned their Arrow of Light or have completed the fifth grade.  

Membership and medical forms can be obtained online, from any Scout Shop, or you can get them from our Membership chair at your first Scout meeting.  They must be signed by a parent or a guardian.

Scholarship funds are available at the Scoutmaster’s discretion.  Scouts also earn credit from troop fundraisers that can be applied toward dues or camping fees.

Parents are encouraged to register as adult leaders and participate in Troop leadership. No special training is required except for BSA’s required Youth Protection Training, which can be completed online after your application has been processed.  

Additional Scout requirements for membership are:

  1. Repeat the Pledge of Allegiance.

  2. Demonstrate the Scout sign, salute, and handshake.

  3. Demonstrate tying the square knot (a joining knot).

  4. Understand and agree to live by the Scout Oath or Promise, Law, motto, and slogan, and the Outdoor Code.

  5. Describe the Scout badge.

  6. Complete the pamphlet exercises. With your parent or guardian, complete the exercises in the pamphlet How to Protect Your Children From Child Abuse: A Parent’s Guide.

  7. Turn in your Boy Scout application and health history form signed by your parent or guardian, then participate in a Scoutmaster conference with a Scoutmaster or Asst Scoutmaster.
